Step Five - Corporate Licences
If you do not have a corporate licence (e.g. you are an unlicensed shareholder or you are new to the industry and not yet licensed), you may select Do not have a licence.
Integrated Licence Process (select provinces only)
APEXA can access licence records on select provincial life insurance regulator websites. This will allow you to add your licence to your APEXA profile by inputting your licence number. As long as an exact match can be made between your legal name (i.e. the name on your APEXA profile) and the licence number, and the provincial regulator recognizes the licence as being active, you licence record within APEXA will be marked as verified immediately.
If a match cannot be made between your legal name on APEXA, the licence number provided and the provincial website, you will be able to enter the details manually (see Manual Licence Process).
- Click on the Add button located on the top right.
- Select the Issuing Province (mandatory) - and depending on the province, you may also need to identify the Licence type (e.g. Life or Accident & Sickness)
- If you have chosen an integrated province, the Licence Number field will display - enter your licence number here (mandatory).
- Click the Search Button.
- The Third Party Regulator Licences screen will display, along with the licence record. Click the checkbox(es) to add the licence record to your APEXA profile.
- Click Ok.
- If the status of the licence is active, as per the provincial regulator's website, the record will be automatically marked as Verified.
Manual Licence Process (Non-Quebec)
If you have a provincial Licence, you will be asked to provide a copy of your Licence. If you have multiple Licences, you can enter multiple records. Note: if you are entering a QC licence, please see Quebec Licences, below.
- Click on the Add button located on the top right.
- Select the Issuing Province (mandatory).

- Enter your Firm Name (optional).
- Enter the Licence Type (mandatory).
- Enter the Status (mandatory).

- Enter your Sponsor/Supervisor (optional).
- Enter the Issued Date (mandatory).
- Enter the Expiry Date (mandatory).
- Enter any Conditions (optional).
- Upload a Copy of your Licence (not all provinces will require an upload).
- APEXA allows you to do upload multiple documents, in case the corporation's provincial Licence is more than one page and you do not have all the pages within one file.
- After each upload, a new browser field will automatically appear.
- Click Save.
Alberta & Manitoba reminder notices
If the corporation is licensed within Alberta and/or Manitoba, upon selecting the province a reminder notice will appear. This is a reminder that these provinces have separate licences for Life and Accident & Sickness. If the corporation has both licences, you must add them as separate items within APEXA.
