Step One - Corporate Details

Information throughout the set-up wizard may be pre-populated based on information provided to APEXA by your MGA. Please verify all pre-populated information and update as necessary.


The first step of the wizard (second if you completed selling code verification) is the Corporate Information page. 

How To - Complete Corporate Information
  1. Confirm that the name shown in the Legal Corporate Name field matches the name on your Corporation's resident licence. (These fields are pre-populated by the party that sent you the invitation.)
    • If the name shown does not match the Corporation's resident licence, you will need to click the Change Name button. If needed, please see How To - Change Your Name below.
  2. Enter any Trade Name your Corporation uses, if one exists.
  3. Select the appropriate Corporation Type for your company from the list available.
  4. Enter the Corporation's 9-digit Business Number - unless your Corporation Type is Sole Proprietorship.
  5. Upload the Corporation's corporate registration documents - unless the Corporation Type is Sole Proprietorship.
    • click on What corporate documents are accepted to verify my corporation? or see below for a list of acceptable documents.
    • APEXA allows you to do upload multiple documents, in case your documentation is more than one page and you do not have all the pages within one file.
    • After each upload, a new browser field will automatically appear. 
  6. Setup your Phone Service Password - this will be used to verify your identity if you need to call the APEXA help line.
    1. Under Choose a Question, select a prompt from the available list - this is the question an APEXA call centre representative will ask to verify your identity.
    2. Under Answer, enter the correct response to the prompt - this is the reply an APEXA call centre representative will be expecting to be given.

Acceptable corporate documents - all documents must be a scanned copy of the original with all pages included:

  • Certificate of Incorporation
  • Articles of incorporation (with the stamp, seal and signature of the provincial/federal agency)
  • Certificate of amalgamation plus the certificate/articles of incorporation for the original corporation
  • Certificate of corporate name change plus the certificate/articles of incorporation for the original corporation
  • Articles of amendment (with the stamp, seal and signature of provincial/federal agency) plus the certificate/articles of incorporation for the original corporation



How to - Change the Corporation Name
  1. Click on the Change Name button located below the Legal Corporate Name field. 
  2. Select the Reason for the name change.
    • Use Name contains an error for minor changes that obvious - e.g. typo or changing a shortened name to a full name
    • Use Legal name change when the change is significant - e.g. the name is entirely different
  3. Enter the Corporation's Legal Name in the appropriate fields - this name should match the name on the Corporation's resident licence.
  4. If the Name change type is Legal Name change, you will be required to attach some form of documentation.
    • Acceptable documentation includes a Legal Name Change Certificate, Articles of Amendment
